Katrina Kaif to romance Rajinikanth Now

Katrina Kaif has bagged the coveted role opposite southern legend Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, being directed by none other than his daughter, Soundarya.

"It's true. We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed to Mumbai Mirror. "We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months."

When contacted, Soundarya confirmed the developments, saying, "Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon."

Katrina, who is busy shooting two back-to-back Yash Raj films - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, and an untitled one with Shah Rukh Khan - will accommodate Rajinikanth's dates in between her tight schedule. All other portions of the film have been shot, and only the ones with Katrina remain. Her dates will be worked out soon, and the film will then be complete, the member said.

"In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale," disclosed a very reliable source. A R Rahman, who is known to take his time over scores, has recorded most of the music, including the love song to be filmed on Rajinikanth and Katrina. "Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score," the source further revealed.

As for Katrina, it will be tough but she really wanted to work with Rajinikanth for the longest possible time, according to a friend.

The first look of Kochadaiyaan, which literally means, "the king with long hair", will be unveiled in the third week of January. Of course, Rajinikanth will sport long flowing tresses for the part... even if it means donning a wig...

Katrina Kaif in Dhoom 3 - May be in bikini

YashRaj camp have always remained particular with their women, as they want them not to just look glamorous but provide a new definition to the word- glam with every movie, especially of the Dhoom series.

This time, its Katrina Kaif’s turn who is the new lead to the movie and is going to be paired against none other than perfectionist Aamir Khan, where she needs to look with a figure to die for. News is that she is preparing real hard in order to get into shape as is needed to portray the character in the movie. Katrina is also looking forward to work with the blockbuster actor (Aamir Khan) who sure knows how to work movies.

Earlier, it was Esha Deol then Bipasha Basu and now it’s Bollywood Barbie doll, Kat. There is also hope that one may get to see her flaunting her curves in a bikini, as it has been seen in the Dhoom series. It is one of the most anticipated movies of 2012 as it is sure to draw crowds because of the two big stars. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue with their roles of Jai Dixit and Ali.

Katrina forced to cancel vacation, for Dhoom 3

 If you've signed on to play female lead in the third installment of Dhoom series, it's not going to be cakewalk. Katrina Kaif is learning this fact the hard way these days. Katrina will not only act and perform stunts but also sing in the film!
 Kat was planning a family holiday but had to cancel.

"Katrina received an urgent return-to-duty call from Yashraj Films to not just learn some heavy-duty stunts but also exercise her vocal chords for her role in the sequel to Dhoom. She will need to undertake paragliding lessons and a full-fledged singing course for the project. Katrina has to go one up on the last Dhoom heroine Aishwarya Rai. That's a tall order in itself," a source told Subhash K Jha.

This is the first time Katrina Kaif will be crooning. She is also expected to sing in her Mere Brother Ki Dulhan co-star Ali Zafar's album.

Katrina will star opposite Aamir Khan in the third part of Dhoom series. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will reprise their role.

Katrina: Salman and I are still very good friends

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Question: In Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, you look like a chirpier version of your character in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara...
Katrina Kaif: I will have to say there is absolutely no similarity between the two. In MBKD, I had to completely let my hair down because my role is a lot quirkier. She is completely mad at times. In fact, it took me a while to completely feel the madness, but I guess that's the challenge.

Question: Imran Khan says this is your best performance ever.
Katrina Kaif: I have to confess that Imran and I come from completely different schools of thought. I never thought he had a great opinion on anything. But, I think we learnt to appreciate each other's eccentricities.

Question: You are working with Salman after four years in Ek Tha Tiger. Are you nervous about spending so much more time with him?
Katrina Kaif: Well, it's been a while since we've worked together apart from a few cameos now and then. I can't deny my equation with him has changed. It does with everyone. But we are still very good friends and that's not changed.

Question: How do you manage to maintain a friendship despite so much being written about the two of you?
Katrina Kaif: You can't really be bothered by everything people write. When you are at a stage in life where you are doing well, I guess a lot will be written. Salman is at a place where he is working that much harder, so there is little time to think about much else.

Question: Is it true that you switch off your phone and cut-off from the world every time you have to shoot with Salman?
Katrina Kaif: Not at all! I have a life beyond this. I wake up, go to work, come back and hang out with friends. That won't change irrespective of whom I am working with.

Question: Why are you a part of cat-fights with everyone from Anushka to Kareena?
Katrina Kaif: I know scandals sell, but not at the cost of someone's work or reputation. I would be lying if I say these stories don't affect me. But I speak for myself when I say that I'm not agitated by competition. I don't know about the rest, but I know how to handle it.


Question: So you will be comfortable working with Anushka in your next film with SRK?
Katrina Kaif: Of course I will. Plus, Anushka is doing a great job and it would be great to work with her.

Question: You will be working with SRK for the first time too. Do you know him personally?
Katrina Kaif: We've met at a few award functions. That's all.

Question: A political party wanted you to endorse their work sometime back. Would you ever think of getting into politics?
Katrina Kaif: I will get involved in social work, but never in politics.

What makes Katrina Kaif the smartest actor?

From a 'boom' to a female superstar is no small achievement, especially for a foreigner who did not speak a word of Hindi when she got her Bollywood break.

It is really quite an extraordinary story, and one must hand it to Katrina Kaif (shall we start calling her queen Kat?) for pulling off a major coup. Today, there is nobody in her league.

And not a single person in the extra critical, highly competitive, super bitchy world of Bollywood has anything nasty to say about the desi Barbie Doll. How did she do it? Well, if one discounts the Salman factor, I'd say she's got to where she has because she happens to be extraordinarily smart! Plus, hardworking, disciplined and pleasant at all times. Had that not been the case, would she have been able to juggle her career, all those besotted men in her life, her fans and family.... why her daily routine which by any standards is exceedingly punishing? All this, minus stress, minus tantrums, minus attitude, minus scandal. Managing Salman is in itself a major feat. That she has done so even after the break–up of their intimate relationship (something she refused to acknowledge publicly) says a lot about her capacity to handle her emotional life very shrewdly displaying rare maturity and grace.

It's amazing and amusing that she kept three guys happy on her birthday eve, with a hop, skip and jump across studios and party venues to greet (separately, of course) SRK, Salman and possibly Ranbir. Juggler Kat and her jadoo, gasped admirers! Despite years and years of being identified as 'Salman's girl', she stayed miles away from any camp. She cleverly projected herself as a 'friend of the Khan family' and was very visible at all the major Khan dos in the past. To give the entire credit for her success to Salman would be wrong. But this much is true, Salman's support for any young actress ensures two things — a great break and total protection from other industry wolves. As Salman's lady love, Katrina had to deal with just one guy — Salman himself. Since nobody wants to mess with this Khan, Kat became instantly put-of-bounds to other heroes circling around for the kill.

She worked strenuously to learn even a few basic sentences in Hindi. Her 'speech' in Rajneeti was nothing short of a triumph. More recently, she managed a few, simple baby sentences in Hinglish for Zindagi... relying more on her flirtatious chemistry with Hrithik Roshan (the kiss could have lingered some more!). As of now, Super Kat has no rivals. Her personality is a big plus — whether on-screen or off it, Katrina projects a certain wholesomeness that provides a sharp contrast to the other slightly trashy, definitely fixed up rivals. We’re heard this one before. When two leading ladies come together in a film there’s no love lost, right? But what happens when three leading ladies get together?

There is an instant territorial war. So the two Sajids, producer Nadiadwala and his director Khan, have discovered on location in Petersborough in England for Housefull 2.

According to a source the sense of rivalry among the three heroines Asin, Zarine Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez is so palpable it has all the men on location cheering the ladies on to give their best.

The three ladies have a history with one another.

Says the source, “Asin and Zarine are Salman’s protégées. Their competitive spirit got a further edge when Zarine was given the Character dheela item song by Salman in Ready.
Though Asin was super- cool about the itemized intervention, arguing that she had her own Dhinka chika number in Ready, Zarina has been strutting around like the new star-attraction on location in the UK even since she joined the Housefull 2 unit last week.

Similingly polite Asin chooses to remain aloof from the Zarine factor. ”

Jacqueline of course is the new Murder girl. The Bhatts have convinced the Alladdin Barbie doll that she’s the next Mallika Sherawat.

Along with the attitude of a star-in-the-making Jacqueline apparently gets along with the Housefull 2 director Sajid Khan like a house (and a director) on fire.

Says the source, “Though Jacqueline is not playing the nose-in-the-air diva on location there’s definitely a sense of haughtiness about her. And why would Asin, a major star in the South with two blockbusters in Hindi tolerate any attitude?”

Into the simmering cauldron of competitiveness arrived choreographer Farah Khan this week to shoot a song featuring all the three heroines.

And Farah is dreading it.

Says a source, “It’s bad enough handling dance steps of two leading ladies. But three?? Asin is an expert dancer and she is opposite the biggest star of the film (Akshay). So she’d be within her rights to expect the best steps.

On the other hand Zarine, Salman’s blue-eyed babe thinks she’s the hottest item girl after Character dheela. Unka to haq banta hai.

Jacqueline of course is the new ‘It’ girl and therefore a star in her own right. besides she shot Apni to aise taise with Farah for the two Sajids’ Housefull. ”

Given the circumstances Farah is understandably nervous.

“Yes I’m in London to shoot a number with the three girls and their three heroes. Doing a song with two heroes and two heroines in Housefull was grueling enough. Here I’ll have to sambhalo three pairs.

And during the song the pairs get inter-changed also. It’s quite a challenge. Lekin kya karoon? I can’t say no to the two Sajids in my life.

One is my brother. The other is my brother and my husband’s producer and also like my brother. Main to phans gayi. ”

Watch out for fireworks when the teen divas hot-foot it for Farah. Wonder how Nanda, Simi Garewal and Kalpana Kartik shot Teen Deviyan without their leading man Dev Anand losing all his hair.
